Our work
Nutrition Security Through Fortification
Working with government nutrition structures to increase the availability and uptake of fortified and biofortified foods across RECOAT's operating communities.
RECOAT works with government nutrition structures to increase the availability and uptake of fortified and biofortified foods. This has been done through the provision of Nua beans, increased access to Orange Maize seed and Sweet potato vines, and increased awareness at community level on the importance of fortification.
RECOAT's work supports systems that enable production quality, improve compliance, and strengthen enforcement and quality assurance structures — helping fortification standards translate into food that actually reaches households.
Key programmatic experience includes supporting fortification readiness, working with district-level and national-level actors, facilitating capacity building for millers, and supporting monitoring mechanisms that improve adherence to fortification standards.
